I have more pics if you need more proof! ;) But none of them are all that good. We were being hassled by a guard and I was only using my point and shoot digital camera (which doesn't like bright skies, dark museum exhibits yes, bright outdoor scenes not so much...)
I'd love to go back again and take some better crowdless shots... or perhaps I should just wait until you go and then pilfer yours! ;)
Hmmm. So I'll need to be there first thing in the morning and last thing in the afternoon. No worries. I don't think I'll get bored. :D
I will try to go on a weekday. The only problem on a weekday is the hordes of screaming primary school kids out on a day trip. Combined with flag-following seniors. Plus truckloads of Chinese tourists.
My current plan is to arrive very early and GALLOP to Takinoo Shrine (it remains the main goal of my next visit) as fast as possible, then return more slowly.
